Engineers simulated extreme raw water contamination by adding mud, sand, and other particulates to test samples under controlled laboratory conditions. The testing demonstrated that the decanter centrifuge technology separated solids to produce clear, odourless water with minimal residual particulate matter while generating a dry solids cake suitable for potential reuse, such as in road construction composites. These separation results remained consistent when scaled up to full operational capacity during testing cycles.

Processing Capabilities and Operational Resilience
The four Alfa Laval Aldec 50 decanter centrifuges provide higher processing flow rates than previous-generation equipment while maintaining a compact physical footprint and low energy consumption. The scalable processing system allows the pre-treatment facility to run during routine baseline conditions while retaining reserve capacity to handle peak flows and turbidity spikes caused by extreme weather without compromising downstream water quality. Once fully constructed, the facility will provide continuous pre-treatment capabilities during peak demand periods or when adjacent treatment infrastructure undergoes scheduled maintenance.
